The aim of the first phase of the AliVe project is to create country-specific Micro-Credentials together with the target group of people aged 55+. Their experiences with lifelong learning and their needs regarding the content and structure of Micro-Credentials are taking the centre stage.
The co-creation process of designing the Micro-Credential in each partner country aims to support the empowerment and inclusion of older adults (55+) in lifelong learning in higher education. Studies and comparisons between the partner countries of the AliVe project have shown that especially this target group has specific needs when participating in higher education. A participatory research approach was chosen to explore this. All partners worked with the target group in two workshops each, one in a rural and one in an urban setting. At first, participants’ experiences with lifelong learning, their needs and first ideas for a Micro-Credential were collected. These findings were used to create a country-specific draft of a Micro-Credential. In the second round of workshops, these drafts were discussed and evaluated with the target group. The next step will be to finalise the Micro-Credentials and to summarise all findings in a transnational comparison of results.
